Current meteorological conditions suggest that a monsoon system is likely to affect upper, central and southern districts of Punjab and Kashmir. Therefore, maximum temperatures of the region are likely to drop for coming 05-10 days. However, due to the moisture incursion in to the region, the heat index (feel like temperatures) will remain high during the period.

Forecast < 40°C

Hot Day Alert

Forecast 40°C - 41.9°C

Avoid outdoor activities.
Cover your head.
Drink more water.
Wear light colored and loose cotton clothes.

Hot Day Warning

Forecast ≥ 42°C

Avoid heat exposure.
Drink sufficient fluids.
Replenish body salt through IV Fluids.
Wear light colored and loose cotton clothes.
Walk and sit under shades.

Heatwave Emergency

Forecast ≥ 42°C and
minimum temperature ≥
30°C for 2 or more
consecutive days.
Significant levels of heat
related illness and mortality
reports.

Extreme care needed for vulnerable people.
Avoid heat exposure.
Drink sufficient fluids.
Replenish body salt through ORS.
Wear light colored and loose cotton clothes.
Walk and sit under shades.
Call emergency helpline for any additional assistance.
